1. Actual requirements and product functionality may vary based on your system configuration.
2. To order your projects, download content, upgrades, and updates, you need an Internet connection.

The main differences between myStory Designer and SBC can be found in the Image Editor.  (Right click on an image and select Edit Image - Using the Image Editor...)

myStory Designer has the full Image Editor whereas SBC has only the Touchup Brushes (Erase, Paint, Smudge, Lighten, Darken, Blur) for editing.  You can crop, apply quick fixes such as lighten, sharpen or correct red-eye, convert to black & white or sepia, and adjust colour or focus of your images... and much more directly within myStory Designer.

Other differences you will find include restrictions on high resolution output. myStory Designer is free software licensed for digital photo book customers of myStory, and does not have a save to .jpg or .png file function. This means myStory Designer cannot be used to create custom-sized projects to print on a home printer, or to create and save your own elements. However you can now upload your pages to the myStory Project Gallery to download page image files!

Additionally, SBC won't recognise myStory digital content as commercial art kits. myStory digitial content can only be used in myStory Designer and Forever Artisan software.

Yes! myStory Designer and StoryBook Creator run independently and can be installed and run on the same computer.

Yes!  Your Creative Memories digital content packages can be imported into the current version of myStory Designer. Of course you will need to enter the package activation codes to unlock them.

Firstly, check that your software is up-to-date. Simply open myStory Designer and click on the update links at the bottom of the Welcome screen.

To open your SBC project simply open myStory Designer, select 'Open an existing project or page' and browse to the location of your saved SBC project. Open the project folder, then open the file "manifest.projectx". This is the project file.

Once you've opened a SBC project in myStory Designer, that project will be added to the recent projects list on the Welcome page in myStory Designer which makes it easy for you to open it next time!

The myStory Designer software is only PC based software, there isn’t a Mac version.

However we are aware that some users have successfully installed and run the program on a Windows partition on a Mac, however you need third-party partitioning software (like parallels or bootcamp) and a licensed version of Windows to be able to do this.

Easily!  Simply add the photos you wish to add to your project to the 'Work Area' in MM. Then click Share and share to StoryBook Creator.  MM will recognise your open myStory Designer project, just as it does your SBC projects, and give you the option to choose this as the destination.

Your projects are saved in a directory on your computer, not actually in myStory Designer. The project thumbnail images you see on the Welcome page as 'recent projects' are simply links to the projects. To remove a project from the recent project list, simply browse in your computer to where the file is located to move or delete it.

Just open your 12x12 book project and then click File, Convert. Select the 8x8 option and follow the screen prompts. You can only convert to a smaller size, so if you think you might want a large book and a small one, you’ll want to start with the large size.

myStory Designer is free software for members of myStory for the purpose of creating and printing myStory photo books, calendars and other projects so it has some restrictions. It isn’t possible to create custom projects (like cards and invitations) within the software. However you can create a card or invitation (or two) on an 8x8 or 12x12 page, upload this page to your myStory Project Gallery and download a free standard resolution image file or purchase a high resolution image file of the page.

Placing an order

Need help uploading your project or placing your order?  Here's a list of commonly asked questions on that topic! Have a browse, you might just find the answer you are looking for.

You can upload your SBC projects to myStory for printing via our free software myStory Designer. It's so easy!

If the upload starts okay but stops before it has completed, generally the cause is an interruption of the transmission or a very slow connection. Successful transmission of the book file relies on various factors, most of which are out of our control, but if our server stops receiving data the connection will close.

Here’s a few things that you can try:

  1. If you are uploading via a wireless connection try connecting by cable instead. Or move the computer closer to the wireless access point.
  2. If using a laptop make sure the power adapter is connected and that any power settings for sleep / hibernate are disabled.
  3. Try restarting your PC prior to uploading and only start myStory Designer.
  4. Try uploading at different times of the day, when general internet traffic may be lighter (e.g. early morning).

If you are located in Australia or New Zealand your Artisan 4 projects can be uploaded to myStory for printing however you will need our software myStory Designer on your computer to do the upload. Artisan cannot be configured to upload directly to myStory.

Additionally, project options/specs may vary slightly between each print provider and your project must be compatible with printed products offered by myStory, so we recommend that any project you plan to print with us also be created in myStory Designer.

Unfortunately Artisan 5 uses a different file type for projects which is not compatible with myStory Designer. This means that while projects created in Artisan 4 can be opened in myStory Designer for uploading to us, those created in Artisan 5 cannot.

It isn’t possible to order two different projects on the same order, only multiple copies of the same. It is actually the production process that cannot combine two different projects through assembly and packaging, and while we do hope to find a way around this at some stage, at the moment this is the way it has to be.

Here you'll find some commonly asked questions about our printed products.

If a photo is low resolution you really should replace it with a higher resolution photo before you order your printed product, otherwise it may print pixelated or blurry. We don't want you to be disappointed with the end result of your project!
